Since its formation in 1991, the association has developed over the years into a nation-wide organisation representing over 315 independent off-licensees.
The need for a single representative association was brought about by the ever-increasing size of this market, but more importantly by the negative press coverage that off-licence owners were being subjected to in those days.
The Association has always been the leader in campaigns on issues which affect the industry. These have included a remarkable turn around in public perception towards the industry, the introduction a National Off-Licence of the Year Award scheme, improved trade training and continuous representations to government at all levels.
The Association has revolutionised the perception, both public and trade, of the off-licence industry in a single generation, and this success is due in no small part to the hard work and public-spirited dedication by many Executive members over the years.
